Printmaking.
Printmaking - I fell in love with it during my first Lithography class - the process, the history. Yet, I was turned off by the toxicity of the studio environment.
I never lost my feelings for printmaking though, and have been on a long journey of exploring greener techniques. This journey has led me to the Japanese method of woodblock printmaking, Moku Hanga. This technique incorporates water based ink and watercolor, and does not require a press or toxic chemicals. For me, watercolor woodblock printmaking is the marriage of drawing, painting, and printmaking, that I have been searching for. I am only beginning to explore the possibilities.
I still love intaglio printmaking, and continue to make drypoint and mezzotint prints.
